Disturbing on Purpose

Disturbing on Purpose?

Someone recently told me that the first chapter of Cameron Lost was disturbing. I agreed right away and then followed up by saying that it was meant to be. They looked at me, uncertain how to respond. Then, we were interrupted, and I couldn't finish saying what I wanted because of other people milling about and wanting to speak with him.I watched my brother transition from this life to the next as I was praying for him. Processing this experience led me to think about the things that must have gone through his mind leading up to the end. The delusions, visions, and questions would have to be intermingled with pain medications, irritations, and visitations. Then you put all of those emotions in a blender and pour in lucid moments and interactions with hallucinations along with the base human humiliations associated with hospice situations, plus add in confusion, guilt, and reduced faculties. It is a disturbing reality of life. I titled the book's first section "The End of the Beginning," for this reason.

Then, the rest of the book is the compelling adventure of how he ends up in bed at the end of his life.
